After last night’s game, in which the Packers and Steelers met as opposing teams to battle until only one was left standing victorious, it’s hard to picture any sort of union coming from such a face-off. But, as newlyweds Claudio Montenegro and Christine McCoy prove, there can be some alliance between the two teams.
Born a die-hard Steelers fan, Montenegro hosts weekly parties at his house (which is equipped with seven TVs in one room, as well as one in the bathroom so that no second of the game is missed), to watch his team play. As reported by The Las Vegas Sun, everything seemed perfect when he met football fan Christine McCoy—except for the small detail that her loyalty belonged to the Packers.
Engaged in October, the couple saw a rare opportunity unfolding as the chances of the Steelers and Packers both making it to the Super Bowl steadily improved, and they decided on having a Super Bowl wedding. Tossing out their traditional wedding plans, guests were asked to wear football jerseys to the ceremony, and for a honeymoon, the couple flew to Dallas to attend the actual big game.
Like the old saying goes, “the couple that plays together, stays together”—but it’s no secret which spouse is starting off the marriage with bragging rights!
